Ray Evans e jay Livingston,
musicisti americani morti rispettivamente nel 2007 e nel 2001, scrissero
moltissimi pezzi e furono anche autori di canzoni per serie televisive e per
film. Qusta fu scritta per il film di Alfred Hitchcock "L'uomo che sapeva
troppo" del 1956 con Doris Day e James Stewart. Quello stesso anno, la
canzone vinse l'oscar per la miglior canzone pop. Famosissima, e tradotta in
tutto il mondo, fu cantata in italiano per la prima volta nella versione di
Carla Boni. Il testo non ha bisogno di commenti: ognuno di noi sa che non si
può conoscere il futuro. Possiamo solo sperare che il destino ci sia benevolo e
